Edith May Noble was born in 1877 in Melbourne, Victoria, the youngest daughter of William Noble (1826-1881) and his wife Emma Keam, who were married at Christ Church Geelong in 1851. After the death of her father, Edith’s mother Emma Noble married William Hart, of ‘Bifrons’ in Nov 1884.

Edith married Peter Ernest Keam on 19 Jul 1905 at the Paterson Street Methodist Church, Launceston. The wedding was termed a “violet wedding” as the bridesmaids and guests carried violets, and ‘Bifrons’ was decorated with the same fragrant blossoms. The couple moved to Heidelberg, Victoria, where their three children were born: Joyce in 1907; Leonard in 1909; and Trevor in 1911. Edith’s sister Agnes Noble and niece Edith Lowenstein are pictured also in the Launceston Family Album.
