Elizabeth Bennett 10.11.1767 at Shorne. His fathers name was Nicholas.

have a Robert Loft married Sarah Thursfield in Wolstanton, Staffordshire in 1834.

The 1881 census gives Sarah Loft widow age 63 born Newcastle under
Lyme, Staffordshire. She has a daughter living with her Mary Ann Loft
age 23 born Beverley, Yorkshire. They are living in Oldham, Lancashire.

There might be a connection with Robert Smelt he marries Elizabeth Thursfield in 1834 Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.

On the 1881 census Robert Smelt a hatter is age 69 born Beverley, Yorkshire living in Beverley.

Hi anyone,

My grandmother was a Loft (Lucy May) born in 1920 in Victoria,
Australia. Her father was Arthur Loft, and his father was George Loft.
Looking for any info on them at all.

Thanks for that info before, John, it really helped! Just wondering if
you could extend upon that and if you have the marriage of George
Arthur Loft and Belinda Trescowthick and their birth records??? I am
finding it really difficult to find relatives of the Loft family as it
seems no one is researching it at all!!! I didn’t think it was such a
rare surname.

Anyway, if you could also find anything on children/martriages of
George and Belinda’s children that would also be great, but if you
don’t that’s perfectly fine, thanks for the help anyway!

George and BElinda were married in 1859. I can find no birth records
for either of them although there are 14 Trescowthick births (but no
Belinda)

Belinda and George had 5 kids

Annie b 1860 in Avoca died 1879

Frederick 1865 ” died 1866

George Arthur b 1855 in Avoca

John Alfred b 1862 @ Ballarat

Robert Egan b 1871 @ Ballarat

they also had three Susans in 1864 1867 and 1875 all who died within a year or so of birth

also there were two Alfreds who died in 1870 and 1858 both aged 2 or 3. These births were not recorded though.

An interesting aside which may have NO bearing on your research (but it
might) A Belinda Loft b Eng m Samuel Gale in 1885 and also a Belinda
Loft (b Cornwall) married Paul Vanjuylen in 1886

A George Loft Died aged 52 in 1880 his parents were George and Ann (Anderton) birthplace Unknown

However from the LDS site online

George Loft was Christened to George and Ann Anderton on

11 Nov 1928 at St MAry’s Woodbridge SUffolk Eng. This date ties in with
the death of Geroge in BAllarat in 1880 at aged 52. So Belnda may have
remarried twice.

Hi again as you know George Arthru was born in 1855 at Avoca to George
and Belinda Trescowthick. George Arthur then married Lucy Rose Keddle
and had their kids at Queenscliffe.

George Arthur Died at Fitzroy at the age of 81 in 1936

One of their kids Willaim George b 1887 died at Cheltenham in 1963 aged 77

Arthur Ronald died in Fitzroy in 1966 aged 69

And Cyrus did at Fitzroy aged 60 in 1954

my g x 3 grandmother? I’m pretty much stuck with her. She married

as there is no records on her.
